At approximately 1226 hours on December 13th, Chester Bureau of Fire units, along with Chester Police, Crozer EMS, Eddystone Fire Company and Tinicum Fire Company were dispatched to the Flower Street Boat Ramp for the report of a jumper from the Commodore Barry Bridge in the Delaware River.
Chester Car 1, Battalion 82, Engine 81, Ladder 82, Marine 81, Marine 48, Medic 100 and MICU81 responded. Marine 81 and 48, along with USCG units conducted searches. Members of the Chester Police and Fire Dive Rescue & Recovery team were on location on standby. Additional resources were requested to the scene bringing the Delaware County Emergency Services who deployed a drone and the Wilmington Fire Department (DE) Fire Boat 7 with side-scan sonar. Units operated for approximately 3 hours in an attempt to locate the victim. Unfortunately, despite all of the resources, the victim was unable to be located and search operations were halted.
A special thanks to Marine 48, the Wilmington Fire Department, Delaware County Emergency Services, the USCG and the DRPA.
