The Tinicum Township Fire Company regrets to announce the untimely death of Life member and Tinicum Township Fire Marshal William J. Adams Jr., age 68. Bill was a lifelong resident of Essington, PA, a graduate of Eddystone High School, Bill retired after 26 years as Assistant Chief of the Federal Fire Service. He was a 50 Year Life Member and Past Assistant Chief of Essington Fire Company and currently the Tinicum Township Fire Marshal. Survivors: Beloved husband of Patricia M. Adams, loving father of Albert(Meagen)Adams, Kimberly(Michael)Widmer and Sean(Julia)Adams, cherished grandfather of Jared, Colin, Carson, Jorja, Melanie, Falynne, Haley and Riley, dear brother of Maryanne Adams and Patricia Sweeney. Funeral Mass: 10am on Thursday October 1, 2015 at St. Margaret Mary Church, 500 Wanamaker Avenue, Essington, PA 19029. Viewing: 6-8pm on Wednesday September 30, 2015 at McCausland Garrity Marchesani Funeral Home 343 S. Chester Pike, Glenolden, PA 19036 and 9-10am on Thursday Oct. 1, 2015 in the Church. Burial: SS. Passing of Township Fire Marshal

The Officers & Members of the Tinicum Township Fire Company regret to announce the death of Township Fire Marshal William (Bill) Adams. Bill was a 50 year life member of the fire company who served many positions throughout his tenure. Bill was a Past Assistant Chief, Ambulance Captain and Board of Director prior to accepting his position as the Township Fire Marshal. Bill was also currently the chairman of the ways and means committee, while chairing this committee he headed up many projects that brought critical funding into the fire company to assist in offsetting annual expenditures of running the fire company. As details become available for Billís services will update our social media accounts. Please keep the Adams family in your prayers as they deal with this trying time.

Car Fires for days!
Thursday, July 30, 2015 
On Thursday July 30th, Company 48 was dispatched for a vehicle fire reported to be on a SEPTA Bus on Hog Island Rd. While enroute PD arrived on location and confirmed the reports of the SEPTA Bus well involved. Crews arrived stretched an 1 3/4" hand line and began the initial suppression operations, R48 also responded and assisted with suppression and ventilation. Crews spent the rest of the day handling multiple EMS emergencies throughout the local and mutual aid areas as well. Later on that evening just after 2300 hrs company 48 was dispatched for another car fire at the intersection of Scott Way and S. Governor Printz Blvd. PD arrived on location and reported a passenger vehicle well involved. Crews once again initiated another swift and aggressive attack and made another quick knock on the fire. A very busy day for fires in the local and a job well done to all who came out to help!

Congratulations Captain Dawson!

The Tinicum Township Fire Company would like to congratulate career Captain Ken Dawson Jr. on the birth of his daughter. Alexandra Ann Dawson was born May 13th at 13:35, 7lbs and 19 inches. We're happy to report that Wife Kim and baby are well and healthy! Congratulations to Kim, Kenny, and son Patrick on their newest addition to the family.

Car Carrier Fire & MVA w/ Entrapment
Thursday, April 2, 2015 
On April 2nd the fire company was sent to I-95 at the Wanamaker Ave on ramp for a car carrier reported to be on fire. Upon arrival of 48-9B and Engine 48-1, units found the rear cab of the truck as well as one vehicle fully involved. Crews stretched and 1" 3/4 hand line and command requested two additional engines (Ridley Park and Prospect Park) to assist with water supply. The fire eventually extended to one additional vehicle prior to being placed under control. While assisting the police with traffic control and mopping up from the fire, crews witnessed an accident on the southbound side of Interstate 95. Upon arrival the Engine and Rescue found one subject to be trapped and the patient was extricated without incident. A great job was conducted by all on the busy Thursday morning.

GENERAL PURPOSE: Protect life and property by performing firefighting, Emergency Medical Services, Hazardous Materials, and Fire Prevention duties. Perform maintenance of fire equipment, apparatus, and facilities as outlined by the Supervisor and/or Executive Board of the Fire Company.

Required Minimal Qualifications

• 21 years of age upon completion of application

• High School diploma or GED

• 3 years of combined firefighting and EMS experience

• No Criminal Record

• Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record over the last 3yrs

• Firefighter I ( Pro-Board/IFSAC)

• Current EMT-B certification or higher with CPR/AED for health care providers

•Emergency Vehicle Operation Course (EVOC)

• Haz-Mat Operations with annual update

• Basic Vehicle Rescue Technician (VRT)

•National Incident Management System (NIMS) 100,200,700 and 800
