BUSY WEEKEND ON THE ISLAND
Monday, July 19, 2010
-
Crew kept busy this with multiple emergencies throughout the weekend. On Friday night the Rescue went to the highway for an accident reported to be with entrapment. Upon arrival of Rescue 48, crews found a vehicle overturned with a patient on the highway. The Rescue and EMS crews worked hand in hand to provide patient care and secured all hazards. While returning from the highway, Rescue 48 was contacted via fireboard in reference to a fire alarm at the Comfort Inn. Rescue 48 arrived and found the alarm to be tripped and turned over the incident to the Tinicum Township Fire Marshall.

Saturday the company responded to the 200 block of Corinthian Avenue for a CO detector. Upon arrival of the Ladder and EMS it was founded to be an active leak with 2 subjects requiring transport to the hospital. 48 Command requested Prospect Park Fire Company to assist with CO detectors so that the source could be determined. After a brief investigation the source was determined, the building was ventilated and PECO was contacted to red tag the malfunctioning equipment.

To finish off the weekend, crews handled a early morning accident on the highway as well as a evening vehicle fire. Upon arrival of the engine and rescue the vehicle fire was well off. Crews pulled the triple fold and put a quick knock on the fire. Thanks for all the guys who helped man the trucks throughout the busy weekend.

"TRUCK GOES"
Tuesday, June 22, 2010
-
Ladder 48 has chalked up some miles over the last few weeks with multiple covers between the east and west sides of the county. On June 10th the Ladder went to Collingdale Borough to relocate station 6 while they operated at a 2 alarm commercial building fire. The Ladder was eventually brought in on the 3rd alarm and the crew assisted with fire suppression and overhaul.

On June 15th the Ladder went to Station 61 (Reliance) while they were operating at a large trash/rubbish fire in Chester Township. The Ladder ran a building fire at the Goodyear Tires Building on Keystone Road. Upon arrival it was found to be a small electrical fire and was contained with a dry-chem extinguisher via the Rescue 40 crew.  Ladder 48 went available shortly after the arrival of Boothwyn and Lower Chichester Fire Companies.
